We had the privilege of managing a major premium exterior transformation for a home in Kennett Square, PA. This extensive renovation breathed completely new life into the property by replacing outdated siding with cutting-edge composite materials, installing high-efficiency entry systems, adding structural stone masonry, and crafting a custom metal porch cover. The result is a striking, low-maintenance exterior built for longevity, enhanced thermal performance, and unmatched curb appeal.
The Full Scope of Work
This masterfully coordinated transformation included full siding remediation, all-new custom masonry, high-performance window and door replacements, and dedicated outbuilding matching.
- Siding & Moisture Management:
- Full removal and disposal of all existing siding and house wrap.
- Installation of premium Henry Weathersmart Drainable house wrap with all seams meticulously taped.
- Installation of high-end Alside Ascend 7" Composite siding (stock color) across the main structure.
- Accentuated the walls inside the back porch with specialized 12" Board & Batten siding.
- Applied window flashing tapes across all flanges and added custom bottom sill flashings to guarantee permanent water shedding.
- Provia Stone Veneer Masonry:
- Installed structural Provia stone veneer across all foundation surfaces, creating an elegant masonry skirt (excluding the area beneath the rear deck).
- Prepped foundation walls with wire lath, stop beads around windows, and a dedicated cement scratch coat before final stone setting.
- Comprehensive Window Overhaul (15 Units):
- Removed and disposed of 14 existing standard windows and 1 large specialty window.
- Reframed the primary window opening to accommodate a large, custom Provia Endure rectangle picture window.
- Installed 14 new Provia Endure construction windows configured as 3 single units, 9 twin units, and 2 expansive triple units.
- Every window was packed with interior insulation and back-caulked to deliver maximum R-value performance.
- Front Porch Structural Roof Cover:
- Framed a brand-new custom porch cover utilizing heavy 2x6 rafters.
- Supported the structure with 2 Versatex 6x6 post wraps and wrapped the primary support beams in smooth white Azek.
- Finished the under-porch cathedral ceiling with gorgeous Wolf tongue-and-groove beadboard.
- Capped the porch with a striking Black standing seam metal roof with comprehensive structural flashing against the house.
- Soffits, Fascia & 6" Gutter Upgrade:
- Removed and disposed of all weathered wood soffits and fascia boards.
- Integrated new white CertainTeed Invisavent Triple 3 1/3" white vented soffits paired with custom baffles to promote perfect uninhibited attic ventilation.
- Wrapped all exterior rakes and face boards in smooth white aluminum fascia capping.
- Installed heavy 6" .032 gauge seamless white gutters paired with oversized 3x4 downspouts, secured firmly using hidden aluminum hangers with self-tapping screws.
- Doors & Premium Trim Accents:
- Replaced the main entry unit with a premium energy-efficient Provia exterior door, featuring a water-tight metal sill pan, flashing tape, and standard 2 1/4" interior beaded trim.
- Framed 7 primary window units with a high-profile 3 1/2" Azek trim design featuring a Historic Sill, put together seamlessly via pocket screws, Cortex hidden fasteners, and matching plugs.
- Upgraded the garage doorway by pulling old framing angles, installing fresh 3 1/2" Azek trim casing with deep jamb extensions, and adding bright white vinyl weatherstripping.
- Matching Detached Shed Remodel:
- Overhauled the detached backyard shed to serve as a perfect mini-match to the main house.
- Outfitted the shed with matching composite siding, white soffits, aluminum fascia, and matching seamless gutters.
- Overlaid the old shingle roof with 1x4 pine batten boards and finished it with a premium Wagler Steel Paradise metal panel roof.
