Project Highlights: Kennett Square Exterior Transformation
We were thrilled to partner with the homeowner on a fantastic, comprehensive exterior overhaul for their beautiful home in Kennett Square, PA! This job is a total upgrade, moving from the current weathered wood siding to a stunning, modern, and ultra-durable James Hardie Board and Batten system. The project involves significant structural work, replacing fifteen windows with premium WeatherShield units, and updating four doors. It even includes framing new openings and completely refreshing the back screened-in porch, ensuring the entire home is protected and looks gorgeous for years to come.
The Full Scope of Work
This major project covers a total exterior renovation, focusing on high-end materials and custom framing for enhanced natural light.
- Siding, Sheathing & Trim:
- Removal of existing wood siding and insulation board.
- Installation of 1/2" CDX plywood sheathing on the entire house and Henry drainable house wrap with all seams taped.
- Installation of James Hardie fiber cement Board and Batten Cedarmill (Iron Gray).
- Installation of 1x4 Hardy Trims around all windows and doors, 1x4 hardy outside corners, and 1x6 Hardie rakes.
- Cutting fascia to height and installing smooth aluminum fascia and a new smooth James Hardie Vented soffit (Iron Gray).
- Windows and Doors:
- Removal of existing windows and installation of fifteen WeatherShield SIGNATURE SERIES windows.
- Interior Trim: Installation of new interior trim on 15 new construction windows.
- Sliding Door 1: Removal of two existing slider doors, framing a large opening with an LVL beam, and installing one WeatherShield Contemporary Collection 3-panel sliding door.
- Sliding Door 2: Removal of existing door and installation of one Weather Shield Contemporary Collection double unit door.
- Front Entry Door: Installation of one Provia Signet Fiberglass Entry Door in FusionFrame Textured.
- Structural & Gutters:
- Screened Porch: Building a 3" high 2x4 wall between existing posts, wrapping posts and beams in Hardie trim, and installing James Hardie Board and Batten siding on the porch exterior walls.
- Framing: Framing 3 new window openings, closing up 3 openings, doing 4 partial fill-ins, and lowering 1 window.
- Installation of 6K heavy .032 gauge seamless gutters.
- Installation of 6" Leaf Guard (Gutter Extreme).
