We had the opportunity to complete an extensive exterior transformation and stucco remediation project for a beautiful home in Hockessin, DE! This project focused on protecting the structure from moisture while providing a major aesthetic lift. By removing the old stucco and upgrading to premium James Hardie fiber cement siding, high-end composite trim, and stunning custom entry doors, we have given this property a highly durable, low-maintenance exterior with immense curb appeal.
The Full Scope of Work
Referencing the documentation from "Estimate.pdf", this large-scale renovation involved complete siding remediation, extensive custom Azek trim work, updated drainage systems, and a premium entry door overhaul.
- Stucco Remediation & James Hardie Siding:
- Full removal of all existing stucco and old house wrap down to the concrete foundation.
- Replacement of any rotted or damaged sheathing discovered during the tear-off process.
- Installation of premium Henry Weathersmart Drainable house wrap over the sheathing with all seams securely taped.
- Installation of color-matched smooth aluminum flashing at the concrete foundation walls.
- Installation of James Hardie HardiePlank fiber cement siding in an 8 1/4" Cedarmill profile (7" reveal) utilizing the Statement Collection color Cobble Stone.
- Secure fastening of all siding using stainless steel ring shank nails and comprehensive caulking with color-matched OSI Quad sealant.
- Custom Painted Azek Trim:
- Installation of specialized Azek Paint Pro trim pre-painted in a custom Clay color across the property.
- Trim accents include 5/4x4 Azek outside corners, 5/4x2 Azek along the roof lines, and 5/4x6 Azek along the foundation where sheathing sits 6 inches or less below grade.
- All Azek trim was fastened using the Cortex screw and matching plug system for a flawless, hidden-hole finish.
- Complete wrapping and finishing of the sunroom windows and door using matching painted Clay Azek trim.
- Upgrade of 3 garage doors (9x7) with new 3 1/2" wide Clay Azek Paint Pro trim, matching jamb extensions, and new white weatherstripping.
- Porch Ceilings & Structural Posts:
- Removal of 5 existing porch posts and structural installation of 7 new pressure-treated posts.
- Installation of Acre 5 1/2" nickel-gap composite boards on the ceilings of both front entryway porches.
- Beautifully wrapped all porch beams and new posts with color-matched painted Azek trim.
- Premium Provia Entry Doors:
- Main Front Entry Unit: Installation of a premium Provia Signet Oak single entry door in a Truffle finish. This high-end system features matching full-length sidelites on both sides, a rectangular transom with Colonial grids, a bronze auto-adjusting threshold, and a Black Craftsman mortise handle.
- Side Front Entry Unit: Installation of a second matching Provia Signet Oak single entry door with a rectangular transom and matching Truffle finish.
- Both doors were installed in high-durability FusionFrames with 2 1/4" interior trim, custom metal sill pans, and advanced flashing tape to maximize weather-tightness.
- Soffits, Fascia & Gutters:
- Complete removal and disposal of old fascia and soffit materials.
- Installation of new CertainTeed Invisavent Triple 3 1/3" vented soffits in a matching Clay color, complete with attic air baffles.
- Wrapped all rakes and face boards in smooth Clay aluminum fascia capping.
- Installation of heavy 6" .032 gauge seamless Clay gutters paired with oversized 3x4 downspouts and elbows.
- Addition of 6" Gutter Extreme Leaf Guards to keep the drainage network completely clear of debris.
- Shutter Upgrades & Finishing Touches:
- Installation of 23 pairs of new Mid-America vinyl paneled/louvered shutters in a color-matched Clay finish, mounted using permanent shutter plugs.
- Re-wrapped all exterior window frames with smooth Clay aluminum wrapping.
- Mounted new exterior light bases using matching Azek panels to properly receive the outdoor lighting.
